Dr. Ianzano
|
My philosophy for treating patients is
simple, I try to treat every patient as I would treat a member of my
own family and I try to like every one of my patients as a person.
Because of my background in teaching I try to educate my patients so
they can make intelligent treatment decisions.
I started my own practice when I became a faculty member at New
Jersey Dental School and have maintained a private practice
continuously.
In 1975 I graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology with a
Bachelors of Science and a Masters of Science degrees, with majors
in both Physics and Chemistry. While at Stevens, I was awarded an
UPTAM fellowship to investigate the effects of a liver tumor on
cholesterol synthesis. Several papers were published from this
research, and a new metabolic pathway was discovered. I continued
with my PHD work at Stevens, funding my education by teaching
Multivariate Calculus and Differential Equations at Stevens and
continuing my research at New Jersey Medical School.
In 1976 I decided to go to dental school and started my dental
education at Fairleigh Dickenson Dental School. I worked my way
through dental school fixing the dental equipment and tutoring
students in physics in the undergraduate division. I graduated in
the top 10 in my class receiving the Removable Prosthodontis award.
I continued my dental education at Indiana University School of
Dentistry receiving a Masters of Science and Dentistry in 1983.s
I returned to New Jersey where I got a job as a research associate
in the Department of Dental Materials at New Jersey Dental School.
Within a year, I was offered a faculty position and within 3 years
became a Director of Dental Materials. I ultimately left New Jersey
Dental School to become Director of Fixed Prosthodontics at Stony
Brook Dental School.
During my academic career I have taught both Fixed and Removable
Prosthodontics both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I have
taught dental anatomy, dental materials and operative dentistry. I
have published over 20 papers, contributed to four books and have
lectured both nationally and internationally. I have been selected
to be a reviewer for the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry as well as
President of the local chapter of the American Association of Dental
Research. I was one of the founding members of the Suffolk County
Emergency Forensic Identification Team and was one of the forensic
dentists for the TWA 800 crash.
